Betta unimaculata – Howong Betta is a rather peaceful fish, of which only males are aggressive to each other. You should set up the aquarium with some floating plants where they can hide. A dark substrate is appreciated. You can keep them well with other fishes that are larger.

This species was officially described by Popta in 1905.

Synonyms: Parophiocephalus unimaculatus.

Origin

Indonesia; Borneo.

Diet

You should give them small live food. Dry food is accepted as well.

Breeding Betta unimaculata – Howong Betta is easy. They are mouthbreeders. The male takes the fertilized eggs in his mouth. After 9 days the young fishes are released. You can raise them with baby brine shrimp.
