Carinotetraodon

The genus Carinotetraodon contains several small freshwater puffers. There are 6 species that belong to this genus. The most famous of Carinotetraodon species is the Dwarf puffer (C.travancoricus). Similar to other puffers, these 6 species are able to increase their size by blowing themselves up. In addition, all the fish that belong to this genus are poisonous. Another common factor is their aggressiveness. This aggressiveness can make these species hard to keep in a community tank.

An important element in keeping Carinotetraodon species is that their teeth will grow continuously. Therefore, it is important that they will be able to wear their teeth down. This can be done by feeding different types of shellfish. Snails are, for example, a favorite for these fish. Their hard shell will make them able to wear their teeth while eating.
