Pyrrhulina spilota is a peaceful fish that can be kept in a loose group. Within this group a pickorder is formed but without real battles. Use lots of plants at the sides and back of the aquarium. Leave the middle open to provide swimming space. They prefer dimmed lighting so make use of some floating plants. Their colours are more visible over a dark substrate.

Origin

South America, Peru. They inhabit the upper Amazon river basin.

Food

Pyrrhulina spilota is omnivorous but they prefer living foods like small insects.
